Only if it's a "slinky" RAM card.  If you don't know what one is, then
you don't have one.  That is, no you can't put it in slot3, and you
usually can't put anything in slot3 of a GS.

There is an 8bit font editor that handles $C8 fonts.  It's on the 
SJAUG AppleLine BBS 609-424-1382, and probably on an FTP site but I don't
know where it would be.

FAQ, FAQ, FAQ.  1-800-555-1212 and ask for Quality Computers, prices
are high but they carry most everything.  If you want a hard drive get
a Pegasus from Econ 402-357-4209.

Your ribbon is probably out of ink.  Try putting in a new ribbon (has fresh
ink and fresh oil).
