Re: A.P.P.L.E and others



Sheldon Simms, in a recent posting, wondered why the Apple II market is
less vibrant than was the case in 1979-80 when many companies served a
smaller base of users.

I speculate that all prices were sky high in those early days:  $400 for
a disk drive unit, for example.  At present, we users are getting all our
hardware/software needs on the used market at give-away prices: $15-$20
for disk drives in good condition, for example.  There is so much used equipment
available at prices that are dropping by the month, that almost no companies
see the potential for profit in our specialized Apple ][ market.  sebugg
