You want an 8 MHz 8087-2. At a recent local flea market, I found 8087-2's for
$39 and pulled 8087-3's for $9, so I tried getting an 8087-3, but it didn't
work. Anyone know what the difference is between these chips? The chip got
very hot, and the PCT wouldn't run at all with it installed, even without
configuring the board to recognize it. I'm wondering if I just had a bad chip.
I have an 8087-2 now, and it works great. Now if I can just figure out how to
write a SANE toolset that uses it...
