Good move! Mine gave me trouble with the smartport power cable too.

You wouldn't happen to be using an accelerator, would you? I have a ZipGS
9/32, and I used to have lots of trouble with my RamFAST and NCS Pro 52. I
found that turning on the Transwarp option in the RamFAST configuration got
rid of most of the random hanging and crashing problems. For an even better
fix, I turned off the DMA. My 4 Meg memory card (S&S Ram card) is supposed
to be DMA compatible, but sometimes I wonder. I can't remember at the moment
whether I ever turned DMA back on (I'm on my other GS right now), but I
didn't notice too much of a speed loss, especially since it's still waaay
faster than the Apple DMA SCSI, my former SCSI card.
Hope this helps!
