I recently acquired a //c with null modem cable so that I could make
images of all my original ][+ programs from the mid 80s.
I must say that ADTPro was easy and fast. The serial bootstrapping is
brilliant. I had one minor issue because I didn't completely read all
the docs. That got quickly resolved using the excellent support
forum.
If you are thinking of doing the same thing and don't have an Apple
II* handy, then I highly recommend the //c route with the
http://retrofloppy.com/products.html#DIN8DE9 cable. I didn't even
bother with a monitor. I just used a cheap DC60+ video to USB adapter
I had connected to my MacBook. Sure 80 columns looks like junk, but
40 looks great--good enough for ADTPro.
I just booted up my first floppy ever in Virtual ][ and ran one of my
first BASIC programs (draw a circle). Excellent. Now I think I'll
sort some numbers. :-)
Thanks again for ADTPro -- "Bringing back old memories, one disc at a
time".
