Offline News/Mail Reader & Window System

In short...Are there any offline news/mail readers for the AppleIIGS?
Also, are there any windowing-systems, similar to MacLayers, or UW for
the AppleIIGS?  I am familiar with Screen, and was hoping for something
better than that.

In a bit more detail...
I am familiar with QWK, and various other formats.  I have the material
for my Unix (SunOS actually) site, using uqwk-1.4.  I don't care what format
the material really is in, of course - just want to get the job done.
I don't suppose any of the various CIS or GEnie offline programs would
work with Usenet would it? :)

I would prefer a P8 program, just so I can simply boot off a 3.5" and
keep things simple, quick, and worry-free.  But since I doubt any of the
above can really be handled by anything except some fancy GS/OS program
that's fine too.  If it requires GNO, that's fine, if not then that's fine
too.  I'm not looking for graphics-windowing (although it would be nice),
but would like to have a few windows for the typical edit-compile-run loop
that we all go through.  Yes I know...I can do it all in one nice emacs
(sub)window.
