Hello,

A friend of mine has an old Apple Scribe Printer that she
is using with a Mac. It is based on the Imagewriter design
and works quite well with the Mac Imagewriter driver.
However, this printer also comes with color ribbons.
So far, I haven't found any drivers that I can use to
send, say color Cricket Graphs or Paint pictures to.
However, I used a program called "Test Character Generator"
that tested printers for color printing ribbon alignment
among other things, and it did print the test pattern in color.
This program did not go through the system drivers but
you could pick all the standard mac drivers from a menu
(which had Imagewriter, ImagewriterII, LQ, etc). So I guess
that the printer will understand at least basic color control
codes, as well as general "Imagewriter - like " instructions.
My question: how can I get a driver for this? Are there some
out that might work by coincidence that I could try? Could
I hack one out myself (or maybe write a program to paste in
images from other apps and print out a bitmap?). Or any
other ideas? Be as imaginative as you wish. Thanks for any
help that anyone can give.
