Weird cable questions...

In preparing for my return to school in a few weeks, I decided to make up some
cables so my roommate (486) and I can share peripherals, an I was hoping someone
out ther ecould give me a little info...

1. Where can I get a DB25 serial (M or F) to mini-8 serial FEMALE cable?

   Since this beast sounds rather rare, how about a source for mini-8 female
   cables heads (wired or unwired) and specs for making the above cable...

2. What pins on a Centronics Parallel connector are actually used?  I'm making
   a ~20 ft. Parallel extension cable, and It seems a waste of wire (esp since 
   I need thick wire so the signal will travel far) to wire all the connections
   when relatively few are actually used...
