Try using the keyboard (on screen that is) to play sounds which loop and
sounds which don't.  If you hear popping on non-looping sounds (mode icon in
the list control is a straight arrow pointing to the right) then there
probably is some kind of hardware problem.  Also, try MODs with exceptionally
clean samples; Who Stole My Cuica and SLR both have sample quality that's out
of this world (tm) :-)
