Some games such as, Winter Games, World Games ( and I presume many other
EPYX games ), Spirit of Excalibur and possibly others simply look for
particular volume name for data files. You can run them off the HD
if you copy all files to the root level and rename its name appropriatly.
Take Winter Games for example, it just looks for a volume called
/winter.games to get data files. You can install Winter Games on HD
if you copy everything to a volume's root dir, and then rename them
volume to /winter.games.
By using GNO/ME's namespace features, you can boot Winter Games with
out moving it to the root directory nor renaming the volume, simply add
a line to /etc/namespace, in my case, it's
:winter.games :elf:arcade.root:winter.games
Then you just cd /winter.games and then start the game... Nasty isn't it?
:) I haven't tried with ProDOS 8 games ( like Zany Golf, Task Force )
yet, I kinda doubt it'll work with them...
Have fun!
