I used a Phasor connected to some BIG surround-sound-like speakers, and hearing
the Skyfox "plane" fire up was incredible! The Phasor was a throwback to
the old AE days when they made consitent heavy-0duty quality products, it
had 4.5 watts of power, where the Mockingboard or Echo only had 1 watt.
Tangent mode off.
Ultima III, IV, and V all used the Mockingboard (V has some of the best 8bit
sound I ever heard). Silent Service uses it a little, but how much sound
does a sub make? BerZap is freeware or something and has good sound.
The older the game, the more likely it will use the Mockingboard.
Bouncing Kamungas, Tactical Armor Command, Under Fire, Legionnaire, Willy
Byte, and some others that have more sound. Check out the computer flea
amrkets for older games, ones from Br0derbund, EOA, etc will have sound.
Tangent mode on.
Anyone remember the SUperSprite board? I never saw one in action, but it
was supposed to have Mockingboard sound and several planes of programmable
sprites. Too bad the IIe wasn't bundled with one of these back in '84.
