Re: Availability of 6.0.1 and programming docs
Not to disagree with Matt Deatherage about availability or distribution of
6.0.1...but...when it first came out, I called Tim Swihart to ask if it was
available. He said that it was, but that distribution of it was entirely up
to Apple's Software Licensing. So, I called Apple's Software Licensing and
spoke to Barabara Napier. I was given a verbal authorization from her.
Knowing that distributing Apple System Software is a legal kinda thing, and
knowing that I don;t want any legal eagles breathing down my neck, I called
Barbara Napier seveal times in the following weeks to re-confirm that
Shareware Solutions II was legally OK with distributing 6.0.1.
After I got a form letter giving me permission to distribute System 6.0, I
even called her to ask if that were a typo, or whether I had authorization
to distribute 6.0.1. If you have any questions, Matt, about Shareware
Solutions II distributing 6.0.1, ask Barbara Napier of Software Licensing.
And, as both Mr Swihart and Ms Napier told me, getting 6.0.1 was up to me. I
purchased it from Resource Central.
So, I have nothing in writing from Software Licensing, but since the person
at Apple's Software Licensing in charge of 6.0.1's paperwork (or whatever)
gave me verbal authorization at least 3 times (I can't help it if I'm
persistant) to distribute it to SSII subscribers, I assume that to mean that
I have authorization. If there's a concern, I suppose I could always call
back Software licensing and get a re-confirmation on the re-confiormation of
the confirmation.
