You've been watching too much of the old Batman series. :-)
You can't run files of type SYS from the BASIC prompt *unless* they
have a ".SYSTEM" extension (at least, this seems to be an unspoken
rule -- someone correct me if I am wrong).
If you have BASIC.SYSTEM v1.1 or better, you can escape to the ProDOS
file seletor by typing "BYE" from the BASIC prompt ("]"). From the
selector (if you have an older version of ProDOS), you must type the
prefix of the disk that ShrinkIT is on, and then SHRINKIT as the
SYSTEM file that you wish to run. The newer version of ProDOS have a
much more elegant, menu-driven file selector.
** NOTE: The BYE command is not available under BASIC.SYSTEM v1.0.
Alternatively, there should also be a file called SHRINKIT.SYSTEM
which came with the ShrinkIT archive -- if you don't have it, get it!
It is the bootstrap-loader for SHRINKIT and can be executed from the
BASIC prompt by the command "-SHRINKIT.SYSTEM".

|but there's no such reference in ProDOS.
Buffers are allocated as needed under BASIC.SYSTEM, so there is no
need to declare a fixed amount of room for the files buffers (as was
necessary under DOS 3.3).
|SO, HOW DO I GET SHRINKIT TO RUN ON "old" //c and ProDOS 1.0.2?
|(Perhaps I need ProDOS greater than 1.0.2 ???)
If you have ProDOS v1.0.2, then you should think about upgrading.
Older versions of ProDOS were bug-ridden and often unstable -- look
for a copy of ProDOS 8 v1.9 or greater. The latest version
(distributed with the GS System 6.0.1 software) of ProDOS 8 system
file is v2.0.2.
This is also a good idea for system programs that are ProDOS kernel
version dependent (ie: they might refuse to run with older versions of
ProDOS.)
