The Koala Pad is an input device that attaches to the joystick port.
It consists of a pressure-sensitive surface plus some analog circuitry.
It has about the same resolution as a joystick - 256*256, or slightly
more if you reprogram the paddle routines.

I own a Koala Pad. It's nice tpo play around with, but it isn't suitable
for serious graphic work. It isn't very precise and requires relatively
high pressure. Personally, I think a mouse is much better for graphics
(for those like me who can't afford a graphics tablet).
