- Summary: Where does the switch go?
Some questions.
1) How to change the SCSI ID on one of the older 40 Mb Q-Drives. It has
2 SCSI connectors, the power cord, a fuseholder, and a thumbwheel switch
for changing the SCSI ID (shows '6' now. Internally disconnected). Where
does the switch's molex connector go on the drive mechanism (if at all),
or where should I place shorting blocks, and on which connector pins?
2) Does anyone have the techie specs for both the ADB bus (especially
concerning the uP used in the std GS keyboard) and the IBM-style
keyboards. I'm pretty sure both use serial comm protocols, but I'm not
sure about much else. I want to make a set of videogame 'controllers'
like nintendo or sega, but I want each to chain on the ADB port. I suspect
the easiest way is simply to copy the schematic from the regular kbd, then
make duplicates with the req'd # of keys. Where to get the uP though? And
how muchg $$$? I want to do this so that my friends can play 2-player simul
games like DuelTris, etc... without both crowding around the keyboard.
It'll either be a single box with Nintendo/Sega controller jacks, or a set
of 'mini' keyboards with the keys laid out in a control diamond, with two
extra keys user programmable (hardware or software; I don't know yet) for
'fire' buttons. Has anyone else already done this? If not, is anyone
interested? Can I even make such a product, or does Apple hold the (C) on
the ADB bus/devices? Could I make it using different hardware?
3) This question I put to Joe Kohn c/o A+/InCider. I saw in a recent A+
mag, a blurb in the "Shareware Solutions" column, about a game relating
to ants. Is this like SimAnt? How much does it cost (SW fee)? I can't seem
to find the mag (now that I need it, of course)!
