I have not used Apple Writer.  Therefore, I have no answer to this
question. Hey, at least you have a way to do the transfer.

The best way to get your files onto 3.5" disks is to find someone with a
IIe,c,or gs that has both drives on their system.  You could use the modem
route, but you don't even need the modems.  Just get a null modem cable
and send the text files to your Mac.  If you do this, you won't need to
worry about the disk conversion problem or using Apple File Exchange to
get the files in Mac format.

It is possible (I think) but very expensive and not needed.
