what happens is that the cleaner gets inside the switches, and doesn't
dry properly.  the keyboard _can_ be fixed - you just have to desolder every
keyswitch, open it up, remove any liquid, wipe clean, put it back
together, and solder it back to the board.  it's a bit tedious, but it
does work.

even if the cleaner _does_ dry, it has a nasty habit of leaving residue.

hmmm...  now that i think of it, ripping the thing apart is a very effective
method of cleaning a keyboard, too.  not that _i'd_ want to be the one to
do it to every single key...
