I too, am not overly happy with Kyan Pascal. However, I am working quite
hard on upgrading the entire thing to something worth my while. I've
already
overcome most of the string manipulation restrictions. Borrowing from C,
I have made strcpy, strcat, strncpy, strcmp, strncmp, etc.... Further, I
am now working on creating my own versions of fopen, fclose, fread, fwrite,
etc... so I am not restricted by the compilier's needs (ie:You MUST put
how many files you will be needing on the call line).

When I get through I will probably have more of a C compilier than a Pascal
compilier - but that is what I am aiming at. I'm hoping to create a set
of routines which will allow me to do other things (such as write a viable
vi program so I can use it rather than Kyan Pascal's ED). Which is why I
was asking about chaining. All of VI will not fit into a single area of
memory unless it is so stripped down that it doesn't do anything. ;)

So now the question is: Can you call the BASIC routines or is there a
routine which parses a user's inputs which I can call to do the Kyan
Pascal commands (ie: mv, cp, <program name>, etc...)? Thanks. :)
