Novation AppleCAT speech synthesizer

Some years ago, (the last time I saw it was circa 1986) there was a program
which could do text-to-speech conversion using an Apple ][ and a Novation
AppleCAT modem.  Did a reasonable job, and at a reasonable speed.  I was
telling this to a friend, and he didn't believe a word of it.  So I dug up
the old modem, and started looking through the floppy boxes, but couldn't
find the dang thing.

If this was commercial SW, can somebody tell me who used to sell it?  If it
was shareware or PD, can somebody give me a pointer or BinSCII a copy to me?

Similarly, I seem to recall an AppleCAT utility which would play music through
the modem (and had a dozen or two music samples) -- anybody remember either of
these things?
