This is often intentional.
For instance, I just posted a reply to someone talking about BBS software
on Apple IIs. He posted on comp.sys.apple2. I was talking about using some
features of GNO to make better BBS software. This would be of interest to
Apple IIers interested in telecommunications and GNO, so I crossposted
my reply to comp.sys.apple2, comp.sys.apple2.gno, and comp.sys.apple2.comm
Not everyone reads all groups, just whatever specific group interests them,
so this is a good way to make sure that everyone who is interested in the
subject will at least see the subject of the post and can decide if they
want to read the article.
