	As far as my fuzzy memory of ProDOS IO errors goes, isn't 27 just
that: an I/O error?  These could have many causes; you didn't specify
exactly what you had to do to generate the error (ie: did it occur when you
tried to access the disc drive, when you tried to type on the keyboard, etc
etc). 
	As far as the //e goes, give serious consideration to having it
enhanced.  Unless you're using a really weird 80-col card (eg Vision80) it
shouldn't have any real problems with your existing cards.
