WWIV is a BBS program specific to IBMs and clones...there are some
boards for other systems (such as Herpes...er, Hermes for the Mac)
that look like WWIV. It's really not that great a system anyway...if
you want to put a spare Apple II into BBS operation, you're better off
with something like METAL or Prime. If you need networking, GBBS Pro
can (with Fruity Dog) hook up to Fidonet and ProLine can hook up, in a
roundabout way, to the Internet's news and mail systems...but beware
that both of these packages carry a fairly stiff (way too high, IMHO)
price tag.

(Personally, I moved my BBS from an Apple II to an IBM clone...I now
use Maximus, BinkleyTerm, and Squish. The software is much better
than anything I've come across for the II, and if you don't have a
spare Apple II already to run your BBS, I'd suggest taking this route
instead.)
