Inner Hard Drive News

Following is a copy of a message sent today to the former owner of an
InnerDrive who sold me his InnerDrive second hand. The deal was made with
us both knowing it had a boo boo, and that I would try to fix it and, if
not, I would try to get it fixed - with us sharing the cost.

It is being offered due to its general interest value.

Roy - here's the poop on what's happening. (Am doing this for my own note
taking as well as to keep you informed.)

I got the name of a guy that repairs InnerDrives: BILL HEINEMAN, Custom
Software, Inc., 7734 S. Broadway Rd., Whitter, CA 90606. PH =
310/695-3966.

Phone call to Bill developed:
1. He is no longer in the InnerDrive repair business.
2. He passed on his repair stock, references, good will, etc. to:
    LARRY BEYER
    B & D Computer Repair
    6115 S. Massasoit Ave.
    Chicago, IL 60638
    312/735-9010
***3. Reason for Bill's change is that he is now making solid state inner
hard drives - on a card. Has 'em already in the low sizes (40 meg, etc)
and is working on a 100 size at this time. Interesting eh?

Phone call to Larry developed:
1. I will send "our" 100 megger to him for repair.
2. If the problem is _not_ the drive itself, cost should be under $100.
3. If the drive itself is the bummer, the cost could be in the $300 +
range and, if the choice is not to buy into this, he will buy it for
around $50 for parts, but take off that his cost of looking at it =
probably close to a wash.

He prefers UPS shipping because Uncle Sam does not leave parcels at the
door if no one is at home.

Hope you aced _all_ your exams. And, will post this on the net because I
think others will be interested.
