problem W/ Autoark

I think  I have a problem with autoark.
 
       After I backed up my HardDrive with Prosel any file that I had
compressed with AutoArk no longer seems to be able to be decompressed.
Under Finder the files appear ether as unknown or Archive Libary File.
When I go to uncompress them, I get one of several reactions from my GS
the first is that AutoArk tells me the File is damaged.  Or I get error
$4A.  A third reaction is that it goes to uncompress it and then just
stops. The files this happened to were also on QuickLaunch.  Some times I 'm
told by the computer that I don't have acess privliages to open or see that
file.
        I'm runing under System 6.0 with 4 megs of ram, A western digital 40
meg HD.   None of these files were locked or encrptyed.  I've scaned my HD and
there are no Bad Blocks or Viruses, in fact my HD checks out fine, a little
fragmented but thats it.  I'm at a total loss.  If any One can help, I would be
very gratful.  Could you E-mail me if oyu have any ideas since I don't have
regular aecess to Internet.  Thanks
