Hi all!
Here's the problem- yesterday while I was logged into my school account from
my GS, it suddenly shut off. It's definetely the power supply, becuase I used
a multi-tester to check the cable, used a different outlet, etc...
Now, I don't know what the outputs of the power supply are supposed to be,
but I do recall there should be a 12 volt output to one of the pins. There
was none, as tested with my multi-tester, but there where some various
outputs of smaller voltages.
Any suggestions with this problem?
Okay, now on to problem number two...
I have an old AE Vulcan 100 meg hard drive, which I've had problems with from
the start, (as some netters are all to aware) so I simply
removed the hard drive unit from the power supply/hd unit of the vulcan, and
plugged it in. Fine. Up and running. But one of the problems I was having
with the hard drive popped up, indicating that the problem is NOT in the
drive or card, as I had previously suspected, but in the power supply portion
of the Vulcan!
Here is what it does:
When I first connect the drive, it works ok for an hour or so, sometimes
less. But all of a sudden, it stops recognizing all memory except that which
is on the motherboard! Since I have a rom 1 GS, this leaves me with a paltry
256k!! I should note that I have an AE ramkeeper, with only the apple 1 meg
card plugged into it. I'm pretty sure I tried removing the ramkeeper from the
setup when I was having this problem before, to no avail.
I have yet to experiment by unplugging the Vulcan power-supply, etc. and
seeing what action _resets_ it to recognize all memory... but in the
meantime, if anyone has experienced anything like this before, or has any
idea what is going on, please let me know!!! I only have enough memory to run
8-bit stuff right now! :(
Thanks in advance,
