This is just a plainly ignorant comment. There's absolutely nothing wrong with
a Mac. I have them, have gotten bored with them, but I do recognize them as
fine computers. 
 
At this point, most micros are still toys running poorly designed and written 
programs. The question is whether or not to get into a platform in which the
updates cost more than the programs commonly available for a more personal 
computer, such as the GS or even the Amiga.

As for changing the startup screen, this has been around for years on the 
Mac. Many utilities will create them for you, and you can import your own
favourite one. For years I had a don't like IBM on one of my Mac's. It's
since been changed though. Perhaps  I'll  simple put I don't care for the
Apple IIe and below.
