1/4" jacks are a good thing to use on any equipment that you want to have
last (unless you go with XLR mic jacks....)  they have more surface area
than 1/8", they are designed to handle plugging and unplugging, and
they're an audio industry standard.  RCA jacks are designed for equipment
that is assembled and not touched, and would be adequate for line level
input/output on this card.  for amplified output, 1/4" jacks are the only
appropriate connector, and considering the size of an XLR jack, they are
the most appropriate for a mic input that will hang on the back of a GS.
