This is untrue! The boards was to read/write MS-DOS formatted 5.25"
floppies. Conversely, these board/drive combinations were unable to read
ProDOS disks.
All you need is an Apple ][ compatable 5.25" drive that has a 19-pin "D"
connector, plug it into the external disk port, fire up your File Exchange,
and you're set.
Actually, that's not totally true, either. See, AFX will only handle ProDOS
formatted disks; if they're DOS 3.3 or earlier, you're stuck unless you can
find a ][ around somewhere to transfer from DOS 3.3 to ProDOS (this utility
comes with ProDOS).
