Eclipse is cool, but it lacks a functional BBS system. They put together a
really nice language package, but left it up to the Public to write the BBS.
Eclipse has a lot of support in Australia I am told, but not much in the
states. It would be nice to see a fully functional Eclipse based system
available to the public. In fact, it would be nice to see a FutureNet
compatible Eclipse system.
Eclipse is every bit as functional as METAL in most ways, and better in
others. It has the ability to load in Binary "Commands" on startup which you
can then use from within the language. And the STAY resident. On the GS (I
believe their driver takes full advantage of the GS memory) you could have
literally tons of commands in memory without ever having to hit the Disk Drive
once. Conseqeuntly, the code would execute ligthning fast.
Plus, Eclipse has 24 bit math and up to 16 dimensional array support.
