Only if you have "upper memory blocks" or extended memory, i.e. a 286
or 386 processor.  With an XT, MS-DOS 5.0 is better than 4.0, but both
are worse than 3.3 in terms of memory usage.

There are other benefits of course - MS-DOS 5 is much nicer to use than
MS-DOS 3.3.  An even better option is to use a third-party replacement
for COMMAND.COM, such as 4DOS.
