Final word on PT3.1 editor size.
PreScript - Greg is looking into creating an ATI driver for 3.1 - he says it
should be trivial - he just needs to convert the old one to the new format.
Anyway, onto the subject matter - I included the entire post since it might
be useful to someone.

This question was in my mail. Its a good one and one that is asked often. I'll
not use the name of the sender, but I did want to share it here the public area
in a generic way.

I too get mail and text files from systems with line feeds, RETURN & CONTROL
characters in general. They can be easily dealt with in the ProTERM Editor by
doing the following:
<> Load the file into the ProTERM Editor.
<> Choose Select ALL from the Edit menu.
<> Then Choose Strip Controls from the Edit menu.
That will take out all but the RETURN characters. There are several ways to
remove them but the easiest way is to:
<> Select the text to remove the RETURN characters.
<> Choose Paragraph Format from the Edit menu.
If you have LARGE docs to do this with, you can now load them with the View
File command, work them over and save them back as a new filename. Load the
next part of the file starting at the point you left off in the other (note the
Page Markers now available and the GOTO command), work the file over and save
it as the same name of the prior file. When you are given the opportunity to
Replace or Append the file, choose Append. Repeat the Process until complete.
If you have a number of large files and want to use the "shotgun" approach at
removing all at the same time, you can use TEX file utility written by Floyd
Zink (see the InTrec Lib 1).

This is a feature often asked for, but is not trivial. It will require a
rewrite of the ProTERM Editor. The project of breaking the 46K barrier is a
considerable obligation and will have to wait for the next major revision.
Again, One change we made to improve the editor was to add the "view file"
command directly within the editor. In addition, when you use the "Edit" option
in "View File" from within the editor, the data is inserted at the current
cursor location. This makes importing data from multiple documents very
workable.

NO! PT3.0 files are NOT related to PT3.1 files.
Let me know if this is satisfactory or if you need more detail.
