Those things are built like battleships. The absolute best way for
sure to clean the head is to open it up and do it.
Two screws in the back, the top comes out, another screw gets the
metal lid off, two more screws take out the PCB and you can see the
head. Lift the pressure pad and make sure it's clean. You'd have to go
way out of your way to screw it up if you use anything more than
cotton based materials, Q-Tips (ear swabs) or eyeglass paper and
alcohol.
