Floptical Info

I am at present considering purchasing a floptical drive. I have seen
them in InCider/A+ for about $399, but I also saw one in Computer Shopper
bare for $299, I am quite certain it was an Insight(sp?) drive which I
believe is the same mechanism that Tulin uses. I was just wondering if
anyone out there has had any experience with using a bare floptical
drive with a GS. I would be interested to know what kind of power supply
it would require and what SCSI cables it would require to put it into
a SCSI chain. I think that this would be a rather economical alternative
if one could get a power supply for it which I do not think would be a
great problem if you ask the right people I believe it might be possible
to get a 60W power supply for almost nothing, and the cables would probably
not be more than $50. So, if anyone has had any experience with using a
bare floptical drive I would appreciate any information that you could
give. The reason that I would like this information is so that I can of
course get the best possible deal on a floptical drive, but I am quite
certain that the floptical drive would be able to read MS-DOS disks when
the MS-DOS FST comes out. This would mean that you would not have to buy
a special interface card and special high density drive.
