YES, all you need to operate the external disk drive is to plug the db-19
(19-pin plug, typically with round cord) directly into the external drive
socket on the IIc.  You do NOT need the drive controller card; that is
built into the IIc motherboard.

You can even use a traditional old ("old reliable") full height Disk ][
drive with the IIc, if you get the db-19 connector added to it.  Alltech
Electronics (602 Garrison St., Oceanside CA  92054) even sells the Disk ][
drives all set up with this plug; alternatively, you can buy the db-19 and
cord and attach it to your own Disk ][ drive.  I have such a drive attached to
my IIc and it works great.   Stephen Buggie
