   Check out the May 1993 BYTE for a comparison betwen 120+ dot-matrix,
inkjet and laser printers.  It's obviously slanted towards the PC
market, but it still has some useful information in it.  The DJ500 is
listed at $599 and the DJ550C at $1099.

    Damn right it's Mac only... :-/  It is identical to the Canon
BJC-800 colour inkjet, and that's listed at $1999 (vs. the Apple Colour
Printer at $2349).  The BJC-800 received some pretty good marks from
BYTE.  It was one of the top four choices in almost all colour printer
categories (even taking top marks for Colour Presentations, beating out
the $6995 Dataproducts colour printer).  They both handle tabloid paper
too (11"x17").
