Re:ProDOS/ProDOS 8
Let's define our terms here.
ProDOS is definitely the Professional Disk Operating System.
----
Apple Inc. says so.
ProDOS equalled ProDOS 8 before ProDOS 16 was developed and released.
Now we're leaving out the word disk. What does that leave us with?
operating system. What does that mean? Depends on who you talk to.
Someone with a IIgs has a completely different definition than one
with a II/+/e/c/clone. It's usually the *.system program that is
actually the operating system, say for example basic.system. It
allows the user to communicate with the computer and for the computer
to communicate with devices connected to it.
ProDOS 8 deals mainly with files and disks, and clock cards to support
the file system, and irq-driven devices. That's what the mli is for.
