METAL Macro Processor on CBA2
I've posted my METAL Macro Processor code to CBA2 by request. This code can be
made to do MANY MANY MANY things. I've heard rumors of people using it in
conjunction with MUGS for Mail Reading on the GS (Hi Brian). I personally run
an entire UUCP gateway with it. You be the judge.
Here's some information about it. This is extracted from the
/IEBS/MACRO.PROC.S file in case anyone wants to know where to get another copy
of it.

!
! Allows complex macros to be written that can run as events. These macros
! can automatically log you into a Mainframe and download your daily Mail or
! simply log you into your favorite BBS system. We find them quite useful in
! doing all of the networking to handle our Internet mail and Usenet gateways.
! But the commands are flexible enough to allow MANY MANY different
! configurations. You could even fake out your local ProLine site by logging
! in and stealing their mail! But don't do this, as it might slightly piss
! off the administrators.
!
! Macro Command Set - 03/18/93 - V1.02
! -----------------
!*1. START
! Signals the beginning of a macro script.
!*2. END
! Signals the end of a macro script.
!*3. WAIT:[string]
! Tells the computer to wait for a specific string to be
! received from the modem, before executing the next macro
! line.
!*4. SEND:[string]{^M},[inter-character delay] <- Int-Char Del Neccessary?
! Sends a specified string to the remote end.
! 5. IF INPUT:[string] {WAIT/SEND:[string]} {JUMP:[script line number]}
! Checks for a condition and waits/sends or jumps.
!*6. DELAY:[numeric string]
! Timed Delay Loop. Based on seconds. 1-99 second delays
!*7. MODEM:[string]
! Sends a specific string to the local modem.
!*8. TERM:
! When encountered, runs METAL Term. Full PTSE capable!
!*9. JUMP:[script line number]
! Jumps to a Specified Script Line number.
!*10. XFERUP:[Protocol{X,Y,Z},{filename}{batch}
! Send a File by X,Y or Z-Modem
!*11. XFERDO:[Protocol{X,XC,X1K,X4K,Y,Y4K,YG,Z},{filename}{directory}{batch}
! Receive a file by X,Y or Z-Modem
!*12. TERM:
! Run METAL term. Exit back to MACRO execution!
!*13. RUNSUB:[CIB Filename, Global Entry Label]
!*14. DIAL:[number]
!*15. BREAK:[number]
! Send number amount of break signals. Requires package #85 (Ext #133)
!*16. REPEAT:[char],[number]
! Quick send a number of characters out the modem port.
!*17: ADD:[batchfile],{filename}{wildcard}
! Adds a file, or group of files, based on the wildcard '*' into the batch
! transfer file.
! Ex. ADD:9/batch,4/mail.out* will add all files starting with mail.out
!*18: DROP:[batchfile],{filename}{wildcard}
! Drops a file, or group of files, based on the wildcard '*' from the batch
! transfer file.
! Ex. DROP:9/batch,4/mail.out* will remove all entries starting with
! mail.out from the list.
!
! * Indicates a working command as of 03/18/93
!
! To Use
! ------
! Enter at global label ENTER with Macro filename held in MAC$.
! This whole thing is RUNSUB able. So RUNSUB from whatever process you like.
! It can also be called as an event by setting CMND$.
!
! Dropped Characters?
! -------------------
! Note: For the BEST results on slow systems, see the METAL documentation
! file CONFIG.COMMS and look at the commands CHARBUFFREQ=<value> and
! PORTCHECKINRATE=<value>. This will help to eliminate dropped characters
! in the WAIT: command. This is the biggest complaint that I recieve
! about this and I AM doing something about it! :) I'll be writing the
! WAIT: command into an External that will REALLY fly.
!
! Also, because of absolutely HUGE amount of crap that the WAIT routine
! is doing, along with the high speed of today's modems, PLEASE try and
! recognize the LAST 3-4 characters of the string that you are trying to
! match. It will make your life a LOT easier to look for 'gin:' rather
! than 'login:'. Especially if your running slow and w/out an
! accelerator.
