Archive Update 4/27
I guess my updates haven't been clear enough... :)
The goal is to get 70 people willing to donate $20 each to purchase a
1 gig SCSI drive to setup a permanent FTP site for Apple II related
software.
The proposed location is grind.isca.uiowa.edu. Currently, there is an
FTP site at grind. If anybody else has a better idea, or a better
place please let me know.

That's 64 give or take one. We need about 6 more people.
I've been reading the other posts on this thread. Grind is a good
site, because it won't cost us anything. Any extra money we get can
be used for maintenance.
The site will be free. A one time access charge will not work and it
defeats the purpose of the site.
As for whether or not Proline sysops want to handle ftp-mail... that's
up to the sysop's descretion. However, can't a Proline systop d/l'ed
from ftp and keep a local transfer section? That seems like it would
work just as well.
I think we are ready to start collecting money. Please give what you
can. No checks or charge cards will be charged until we have enough
money to purchase the drive. Send stuff to:

PO Box 830
Iowa City, IA 52244-0830
(make checks payable to me please)
I'll post updates on who has paid and who hasn't. Also, Grover Thomas
suggested we keep a list of contributors on the site, so those
contributors will be "immortalized". We should also designate
somebody to be the contact person, so the Grind administrators know
who to contact in case something happens to our drive.
