CD�s for the Apple IIgs?

My friend is a devoted Apple IIgs user with questions about using
a CD-ROM Drive with his computer:

"Help, I've got a question....

I'm using an Apple IIGS 4 MB, Transwarp, Imagewriter II. I
wonder if it is worth buying a CD ROM Drive, could I use it
to read CD-ROM's for Macintosh? I would love to buy the
"New Grolier Encyclopedia" or "Shakespeare" for example.
FST-HFS should provide this opportunity somehow. But how?
And does it work???      - Philipp
