There has just been a program released by Tony Marques, called Angel. 
This will eventually become part of his Agate package. At the moment, it 
handles zip,arc,lzh,lha and shk archive formats (read), and can create 
(single-file) zip archives. The program also includes a limited version 
of ARMOR, a QWK offline mail reader. Although the program is 8-bit, it is 
well-worth having:to my knowledge there is nothing like it in the GS 
world!

PS: As for ftp sites, I'm not sure...it is shareware, though
