Just to correct one not so minor point . . .  Talk Is Cheap is _not_
shareware, though there may still be some people using old versions of it.
The latest version is 3.31, and is considerably better than older versions,
and is definitely a commercial product. (I highly recommend it, too. It's
the only telecom software I've never been able to crash, short of turning
off the modem or bollixing the port settings.)
