Re: ORCA/C

I agree.. Byte Works is one heck of a company. Every time I have dealt
with them I have been quite pleased with the result. I'm sure that any
problems will be ironed out- they aren't a Zimco, so don't worry I trust
them.

However I'm not in the same boat as those who've bought Orca/C 2.0. I do
own Orca/C, Pascal, Integer Basic, Talking tools, etc etc.. and have
promptly been sent announcements (with special deals) for their new
software or updates. Unfortunately for me, no matter how much I wanted to
stay current and buy the latest versions, I could not.

Why should we doubt the companies that still support us? Those that are
here now have proven by their commitment to a "obsolete" (I hate that term)
computer and should be showered with praise.

I don't feel a loss at not having shelves of GS software at the local
Egghead or Software Etc.. It is my opinion that even at its height, they
really didn't enjoy/want to provide space for us. The best selection I ever
did see was at an Egghead store about four months prior to its removal.
I spent a lot on software (mostly games) when I could get it at a local
store.. My spending has slowed down quite a bit but not my desire for new
software or hardware. I want a Soundmeister Pro, Turbo IDE.. etc.

Now we can get even better prices without leaving our home! Mail order
companies such as TMS Peripherals and Quality Computers have bigger and
better selections than any local store ever had. The hardware and software
support we have now is dedicated, need I say more?

We are a community.. Comp.Sys.Apple2 is one of the best sources for
information. People are always willing to answer questions and give advice
or even entertain us with bogus advertisements. I may not have seen a
'true' flamewar but its not something I *want to see either.

I mostly sit back and capture the more interesting or valuable messages
that flow past. Whether we lurk or constantly contribute like Eric D.
Shepherd, we have one heck of a resource. Nationally and internationally
connected of varying skill levels and backgrounds..
