More than likely he had to buy a 128/512k Mac or an external drive
that is strictly for 400 kb disks.  Even the Mac plus's were finnicky
with 400 kb disks as they are an 800 kb drive.  Some Mac SE's came
with the high density drive for 1.6 MB but forget about reading 400 kb
disks with them.  I have only one external 400 kb floppy drive in my
possession but have never really had a need to use it.  Kind of
tinkering with the idea that I should give it up for adoption but my
512k might get lonely.
