HELP! Bad disk drive???

I have a //e enhanced with 128k and dual 5.25" floppy drive.  When I
boot Pro-DOS and ask it to format a volume, it fails with an "I/O Error"
when the new disk is in the right drive.  It succeeds when the disk is
in the left drive (the boot-up drive).   Do I have a bad disk drive?  It
seems to be able to read the right drive OK (Seems).

I am not an Apple-jock but am attempting to prepare this machine to give
to my nephews who can use it and learn from it.  Any help is
appreciated.
