I think this is a nice example of a completely uncalled-for comment,
actually.  Calling Joe an "idiot" isn't particularly productive (although,
I suppose, it might make one feel better, if one were predisposed toward
feeling better after having insulted someone), and it certainly isn't
true.  Anybody who writes for a magazine must have at least one or two
functioning brain cells.  Heck, Bill Buckley does okay. :)

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but public insults tossed out
for no significant reason aren't going to accomplish anything, so why
waste time?

Too late not to waste time; you probably burned at least 30-50 seconds
replying to Joe's comments.

My opinion: I'm not offended by foul language, but I don't think it's
necessary, either.  Some people, however, are seriously offended, so I
figure, why not just stay away from it and avoid the trouble?  Any
intelligent thought (and most non-intelligent ones, too) can be expressed
sans colorful idioms...

Of course, some people disagree with my opinion, and that's okay; you're
entitled to your opinion, and, hey, you might be right, too.  So let's not
make an issue of it and get on with our existences.
