  It's not that ugly.  GEnie isn't some magical haven for intelligence; 
it costs money to post.  That's a big deterrence.  Internet is free.
I.E., you get what you pay for.

Ahem.  They are still bashing Switch-It! in their ads and mailers. 
The Apple II once again has competition; it's healthy.  Their particular
approach isn't, but don't decry the cause.

  Me too, and boy did we do it on the BBS I wrote.  Most of the people
here are college kids, and you should know more than _anyone_ Joe, that
college kids are loudmouthed and obnoxious. :)

  There's no chance anyone would vote to moderate csa2.  We tried to
moderate the _binaries_ group, and that failed miserably.  If you really
think you have the time to sort through all these (and granted, most of
them you'd simply approve) then what you'd be best off doing is 
creating a _new_ moderated group.. small kids (how many of them did _NOT_
see Terminator 2?) and anyone else with easily offended sensibilities
could use the moderated group.
  I actually agree with you Joe.. sometimes I cringe when I see foul
language on csa2 (although if you watch me programming you'll hear all
those and more come out of my mouth :-) because as a public forum, you
just don't expect to see that kind of language.  Folks, Joe has a point-
let's try not to shoot our mouths off, and definitely don't use 4-letter
words.  It's called "respect", something this country sadly lacks.
