Yes...there is an upgrade...I purchased the kit and upgraded my IIe.
OTOH, my IIe was about 7.5 years old at the time.  If you'd wanted a
IIGS, it would've made more sense if you'd bought one instead of
buying a IIe with hopes of upgrading the system...the upgrade isn't as
foolproof as it should be.
