As well, METAL is being updated and fixed. TC has turned the Source code over
to Joshua Thompson to continue development on. I am running a Beta copy of
METAL version 1.09.02 which has a LOT of new options. It has bug fixes from
1.09.01, two new commands, a few new interesting Sycntrl values to check etc.
Bet of all, it now supports debug commands in the source code, allows you to
compile SPECIFIC Subrtoutines out of Library files and the GS now has a 10
page scrollback buffer. But I'm not going to spoil it anymore...YOu guys can
see it when it is done. ;)
METAL is getting more support now than it ever has!
As for Internet access. I have been polling a UUCP feed now for about 3
months with a beta version of FutureVision 5.0. It's cool.
I've recently gone over the edge though and have implemented UUCP file parsing
as a STANDALONE segment for METAL. In other words...These programs are being
worked on right now (And they are NOT FutureVision dependant!!! They will work
for ANY bbs system that is written for METAL)
UUCICO - both caller AND host ends. (Have you UNIX site poll METAL or vice
versa)
UUXQT - parse Taylor UUCP 1.04 and 1.03 UUCP packets. Works great. I have
been using it on my feed now for about 36 hours with no problems.
Although we do not have UUCP-g, I have the protocol specs and am itching to
implement the dang thing. (And yes, it will have full sliding window support
from 32 byte to 4096 byte packet sizes. SHOULD give at least 1500 CPS at
14,400)
So, in general, with a 100% compatible UUCICO and UUCP-g program, plus a
dedicated domain (fnet.org) I's have to say that Internet and METAL are moving
along wuite well! ;)
