Well, there is an old multitasking software out there called Leap Frog, that
switches between applications... (pre-emptive or whatever it's called)
 
But you might want to take a look at the Manager Demo, or the SwitchIt! demo.
 They don't multitask, but are program switchers...
 
If you want, go out and buy GNO, a Unix-type multitasking shell for the GS.
