Just for grits and shins, I created a RAMdisk (/RAM5) with the minimum
boot-to-Finder setup I could think of:

No tool above Tool034
Nothing but Console.Driver in the Drivers folder
Nothing but the character and ProDOS FSTs in the FSTs folder
Nothing but Tool.Setup, TS3, Resource.MGR, Sys.Resources, and MountIt in the
   System.Setup Folder
Nothing in the Fonts folder
No Desk.Accs, CDevs, FinderExtras, or Preferences folders
Nothing else in the System folder except the Finder, named "Start"
Nothing else on the disk except the FType.Apple in the Icons folder

Still no joy.
